Terms of Service

Who we are
StoryRoom is operated by WisGen AI (ABN 27 484 579 859), a business based in Sydney, Australia. You can reach us at info@wisgen.ai. These terms are the agreement between you and us about your use of StoryRoom. By using it, you accept them.
What StoryRoom is
StoryRoom is a private notebook for family and life stories. You record yourself talking or you type, and StoryRoom keeps what you make in stories you can edit, reorder and download. Recordings are transcribed by a machine: often very good, sometimes wrong. Read what it gives you before you rely on it.
Your stories are private to your account. StoryRoom does not publish anything, and there is no way for another account to see what you write.
Early access
StoryRoom is in early access. During early access, recording and typing are free. Recordings are transcribed free, up to 60 minutes a day per account; the recordings themselves are never limited.
Early access can end. If it does, or if we start charging for something that is free today, we will tell you at least 90 days before, by email and on this site, and you will be able to download everything you have made before anything changes.
Your account
You must be 18 or older to have an account. One account per person; keep your sign-in details to yourself.
An account can hold more than one person — for example a family. You decide who uses your account, and you are responsible for what they do there, including a family member who records into it.
Credit
Paid features are not available during early access, and nothing here needs credit. If your account holds credit, it lasts 12 months from your most recent top-up. It is not refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash, except where the Australian Consumer Law requires — see Refunds.
Your content
Your recordings, text and corrections stay yours. We take only the licence we need to run the service for you: to store your content, to show it back to you, and to send your audio to the transcription service that turns it into text.
We do not train anything on your content unless you ask us to. Our transcription service is told, on every recording, not to keep your audio for training. Two consent boxes are offered when an account is created, both unticked; the Privacy Policy explains what each one means and how to change your mind.
You are responsible for what you put into StoryRoom. Put in only what is lawful and what you have the right to put in. If someone makes a claim against us because content you put in StoryRoom broke the law or these terms, you are responsible for that claim, to the extent the law allows.
What is not allowed
You must not use StoryRoom — and must not let anyone using your account use it — to make, store or share:
- child sexual abuse or exploitation material, in any form, including written descriptions and fiction;
- material that promotes, instructs or supports terrorism or violent extremism;
- intimate images or recordings of a person shared without their consent;
- anything that grooms a child, or threatens to share intimate material to get something from someone (sextortion);
- threats or harassment, including through a recording made for someone else;
- anything else that is illegal where you are or in Australia, or that you do not have the right to use.
Do not try to reach another account's data, do not work around the limits of the service, do not run automated bulk use through it, and do not resell it.
How reports are handled
We do not read or scan your stories. Anyone who sees something that should not be in StoryRoom can report it — in the app with Report a problem, or by email; the Safety page explains how.
- When an item is reported, we hide it straight away, without reading it, while we look into it. It stays stored, unchanged, until we decide.
- We may suspend an account while a report is looked into, and we may close an account that breaks these terms.
- Where a report gives us reasonable grounds to believe an item is child sexual abuse material or terrorist material, we report the account's details to the police, keep the item stored in case they lawfully ask for it, and then remove it.
- We have the right, but not the obligation, to review, hide or remove content and to suspend or close accounts. Where we are able to, we tell you what we did and why.
- If you think we got it wrong, email info@wisgen.ai and we will look at it again.
Availability
StoryRoom is provided as it is, with no guarantee of uptime, and we may change parts of it while we build. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose: Download everything, in the app, gives you all your stories and recordings at any time.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law, or any other right that cannot be excluded by agreement. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. A transcription that is imperfect is not a fault of that kind: it is a machine transcription, and it is yours to correct.
Closing an account
You can close your account at any time by writing to info@wisgen.ai from the account's email address. Download what you want to keep first. Unused credit is not refunded when an account closes, except where the Australian Consumer Law requires — see Refunds. An item under a report is kept for as long as the police may need it, then removed.
Changes to these terms
We post every new version here with its date at the top. When a change matters to you — what you pay, your rights, how your content is used — we tell you at least 30 days before it applies, by email and on this site. If you do not agree, you can stop using StoryRoom, download your stories and close your account, at no cost.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales have jurisdiction. This does not take away any protection the law where you live gives you.
